Gabby Alas Head Coach

Hello Maplewood Marlins!!!! I'm Coach Gabby and I am beyond excited to be back! I grew up swimming for the Marlins and proudly swam with the team until I aged out, so this team has always held a special place in my heart. Over the past 10 years, I’ve stayed on deck doing what I love—coaching and helping swimmers grow in and out of the water. I also spent two years coaching USA Swimming with COOG Aquatics as well as coaching for Trafton Academy. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and currently work at MD Anderson. I can’t wait to bring my energy, passion, and love for the sport back to Maplewood as head coach. Let's go Marlins!!

Cecilia Grand Assistant Coach

Hello, I am Cecilia Grand. I’m so excited to be your assistant coach again this year! I swam for the Marlins for 12 years. I am currently attending UT Austin majoring in nursing. I am passionate about instilling confidence in technique from the start. As a coach, I will be cheering swimmers on and helping them improve at their own pace. Maplewood has been my second home for many many years and I hope to recreate the fun environment I was able to experience. See y’all soon!

Gabriel Villarreal Assistant Coach

Hey Marlins, my name is Gabriel Villarreal, and I’m super excited to be an assistant coach again this summer! My love for swimming started when I joined my summer recreational team at age 5. After a couple of years of being scared of the water, with the help of some great coaches, I realized how much I really wanted to swim more, so I started swimming with COOG Aquatics, a year-round club team. I am thankful for all of the great coaching, fun times, and memories that I have made, so I hope to pass that same experience to our swimmers so that they can learn to love swimming as much as I have!
