    MOC tomorrow

    Good evening everyone!

It is here!  We are having the last meet tomorrow!  I can't beleive that we have made it to the meet of champions!   What a crazy, crazy season this has been!   And, to continue the craziness, we are going to combine our last meet with the end of season party tomorrow.

Here is the schedule to tomorrow night:

                    6u        7/8         9/10        11/12         13u

    Arrive    3:40       4:35       5:50          7:05           8:30

    End        4:30       5:45       7:00          8:25          9:40

We are splitting up the swimmers and only swimming 3 swimmers at a time for most heats.   This will create more heats and a longer time between events.   Additionally, we are inserting other activities into the meet to allow swimmers time to rest between their events.    We are working hard to make sure that the swimmers have adequate time to recover before their next event.

During the evening, we will hand out the medals to the swimmers.   Before the individual freestyle races, we will need the parents help in getting the swimmers in their masks over to the office end of the pool.  They will sit down on one of the dots there that we use for line up.   The coaches will then call the swimmers one by one to receive their medals and parents can take a picture of the swimmer with the coaches if you would like.   Once the swimmer receives their medal, they will return to their family seating area and wait their for the freestyle race.

After breast stroke, we will also be giving our coaches their gifts that you all have generously donated this season.  There is still time to donate!(on the website or Venmo @maplewood-marlins)   During this time, the swimmers will return to their parents seating area.   After everyone has their masks on, we will present the coach for that age group with their gift.   We will also hold the board elections.  Currently, we have two spots vacant on the board.   Please think about serving.   We especially need someone to head up concessions next year.   A job that involves air conditioning!  And we can arrange for you to slip out to watch your kids swim.   Please think about this.   If we cannot get enough board members, the season will suffer.  We are a fun group to work with!   Meetings don't begin until January, and then we only meet once a month.   Contact me or any board member if you might be interested.

Following the board elections, the swimmers will go line up for back stroke, or wait under the shed for fly.

Finally, after fly, the coaches are going to do a silly relay and possibly have a biggest splash competition in the deep end.   We are still developing those plans.  For this, the swimmers, wearing their masks, will go sit/ stand around the pool, keeping socially distant.  Parents, please help us with this.   We will watch the relays and dives and then we will be ready for the free relays.  Swimmers will go line up for relay.

Following the relays, the swimmers will have the chance to jump off the diving board before they head out of the pool.  We will be handing out icees or drumsticks to the swimmers on their way out.

As always, we will be setting up tomorrow morning at 9:00.   WE need a handful of parents to help   To those who have been helping us, thank you very much!  We will also have team pictures to hand out tomorrow night.  Don't forget to order yours on the website!

It has been a pleasure to work with you all to provide this season to our kids.   It was worth all of the hard work and we couldn't have done it without you!   WE can all be proud of being able to hold this swim season in a safe, fun way.

See you at the pool tomorrow!

    Monique
