Happy Friday, Marlins!

What a great first week for our 2023 Marlins! A couple of mentions & requests:

• Our head coach, Maggie Close, will be at practice beginning Monday. Many thanks to our Assistant Coaches Patrick, Amber, Katie & Adam and our lane helpers as well as our Coaches Liaison, Cameron Barghi and Meet Director, Lisa Turner for a great first week.
• Our coaches are hard at work evaluating swimmers and conducting practices. Please refrain from approaching them during practice sessions. If you have questions or feedback, please email [email protected] and include your swimmer's name and age group in the message.
• Decisions regarding changes to individual practice schedules will be made next week. If you have a question regarding your swimmer’s options, please email the coaches at the email address above. Swimmers must swim with their assigned age group until their request has been approved in writing.
• You might have noticed the use of “Lane 7” during practice. At the beginning of the season, we may use a lane in the other pool during select practices to allow swimmers the opportunity to work on various skills or drills. We may also use the deep end for older swimmers to practice relay starts and dives. Please note, outside of official use by a coach, there is no use of any other pool (including the baby pool and splash pad) during practice. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment.
• Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the pool decks clear (the concrete area surrounding the pools) for the coaches as they establish the routine of practices with the swimmers. We know it is an exciting time and you want to be close, but coaches and lane helpers need a clear line of sight to the pool, so we ask that you watch your swimmers from one of our designated seating areas.
• If you notice anything with the pool facilities that needs attention, please let us know so we can address the situation. We will have a board member at all of the afternoon practices so look for one of us to report any issues. And, don’t forget to “ooh” and “aah” about our new water fountain with bottle filler. We are excited about this addition to the pool facilities.
