Happy Tuesday!

Since we did not have pictures on Sunday, I am sharing all the "Parent Meeting" information via email. Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Housekeeping

• Team pictures WILL be rescheduled, just not sure when. Stay tuned...
• Parking will be an ongoing issue. We ask that you park IN THE CHURCH PARKING LOT, instead of on the street. It is hard to see around cars to get across the street and we want to keep everyone safe!
• Ages 7 & 11 are the hardest years on swim team. Age 7 you are competing in all 4 strokes for the first time and age 11 you are doing flip turns for the first time. Be patient - get extra lessons - know that loads of DQs will be given in the first couple meets.
• Westbury Baptist summer campers -- if you need help getting your kiddo to/from the pool/camp, we have a teenager who will help. Email me to get on the list.
• We are continuing the combined 11 & up practice time through the end of May. All 11-18 year olds practice from 6:30-7:15...with 15 min wiggle room on the back end :)

Volunteering

• Amy Williamson is our new Volunteer VP!
• CHANGES to 7/8 & 9/10 Tent Parent shifts
  • 7/8 & 9/10 WHOLE MEET SHIFT counts as 2 shifts
  • You still work the whole meet, but it counts as 2 shifts
  • This is a TRIAL RUN this year. If we have a hard time filling shifts, we will have to rethink.
• We can not run a swim meet without volunteers. All jobs/shifts must be filled. Do some jobs require more than others, yes. That's just the way the cookie crumbles and we very much appreciate the time you give to the swim team!

TIME TRIALS THIS WEDS & THURS

Times will be taken during your swimmers normal practice time. DON'T STRESS if you can not make it or your swimmer does not get all events timed. Email coaches if you have major concerns.

Wednesday 5/22

• 6 U - freestyle
• 7/8s and 9/10s – freestyle & breaststroke
• 11 and up – above + IM

Thursday 5/23

• 6 U – continue freestyle & regular practice
• 7/8s and 9/10s – backstroke & butterfly
• 11 and up – above + IM

Friday

• Make-up day for any times that were not captured on Wednesday & Thursday
• Relay Friday (practice…not timed)

First Meet - TUESDAY May 28

• Arrival time is 3:45 for home meets - we understand that school is still in session, get to the pool as soon as possible.
• If you have not already, please declare your swimmer for meets. Not sure how to do that, see attached images.
• More info to come later this week...

Finally, a personal side note -- many of you heard that my family had a fire at our home 3 weeks ago. We are all safe, albeit slightly traumatized and displaced. My hope is that we can all learn a valuable lesson -- PLEASE talk with your kids about your family's fire safety plan and unplug any unnecessary items when not in use. Things are replaceable, you are not!

May is always crazy busy, so thank you for being patient and getting your swimmer to the pool for practice! Hats off to our awesome coaches for a great start to the 2024 season!
