Marlins End of Season 2024
Hey hey, Marlins!
I was all set to send my final email on Sunday, and then Beryl came a knocking. That storm was bonkers. I hope you all fared ok and are now somewhere with power and AC! If you have any immediate needs, please let me know. I will use all my resources to help out my Marlin families. Now on to swim team biz...
Congratulations to all our Marlins on a fantastic season! We still have some end of season awards, Meet of Champions awards and All Star medals. If you have not picked yours up, they are all in the pool office where we store swim team stuff.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as President and for all your amazing volunteer support this season. I will be back next season, as will the most of the board. However, if you have interest in running against someone's current spot on the board, you are welcome to send in your interest.
As you may have noticed, our older age groups are fairly small (shout out to our lone-ranger open female, Cecilia Grand!). We have started implementing "senior scholarships" and "ten year" gifts in hopes of encouraging your swimmers to STAY until they age out. We know life gets busy when you are a teenager and we hope to keep all our Marlins as long as possible.
Post Season cheers -- we ended the season with 3 wins & 2 losses and had 156 Marlins in the top 50 for D1. On July 2nd, the Marlins sent 44 swimmers to the final meet of the season. SHRSL consists of 19 teams and about 2,000 swimmers. Maplewood had a great showing and placed 3rd overall this season. You can find MOC & All Star results attached here as well as on the SHRSL website. Great job, Marlins! We are all so proud of you.
FROM COACH GABBY -- What a season! It's been so amazing to watch each and every one of you grow, both as athletes and as a team. Thank you for making this season one to remember! Keep swimming strong, stay connected, and continue to strive for your goals both in and out of the pool. Wishing you each a fantastic end to the season and looking forward to seeing you back in the water soon!
In addition, I’ve heard some interest in Coogs so here’s a little information! We currently have a clinic going on this month to try out our practice. I have attached our link incase anyone wants to take a look at it. We do offer a week free trial starting September 2nd to come try it out as well in addition to school and any extracurricular activities your kids may have at the same time. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at [email protected] https://www.coogaquatics.org/page/home
Before I ride off into the hot summer sunset….SHRSL will have a wrap-up meeting in August sometime, so you may hear from me after that if they share any information I feel is necessary to pass along. Otherwise, be on the lookout for 2025 registration information sometime in February.
Thanks for putting up with all my emails this season. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions feel free to reach out anytime!
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
~Mindy
